Terms & Conditions
Effective 12 May 2026
These Terms govern your use of Plate — the property marketplace operated by Zaini Media ("Plate", "we", "us"). By using the Plate app or website, you agree to these Terms. If you don't, please don't use the service.
1. Who can use Plate
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be legally permitted to use Plate where you live.
- You must use Plate only for lawful purposes related to genuine property transactions in Ghana — listing a property, finding a property to rent or buy, or communicating with people about either of those.
2. Your account
Your phone number is your account identifier. You are responsible for every action taken from your account. If you lose access to your phone number, contact us immediately at hello@ghplate.com. We may verify your identity before restoring access.
3. What Plate is — and what it isn't
Plate is a marketplace platform. We make it possible for property listers (owners, landlords, agents, anyone with a place for rent or sale) to be discovered by potential buyers and tenants, and for those parties to communicate directly.
Plate is not a real estate agency, broker, or legal advisor. We do not own the properties listed on Plate, we are not party to any transaction between users, and we do not provide legal advice on property purchases, leases, or any other matter. Decisions about whether to rent or buy a property are entirely your own.
4. Listing rules
If you publish a listing on Plate, you confirm that:
- You own the property or are otherwise legally authorised to market it for rent or sale.
- The information you provide is accurate and current.
- The photos belong to you, you have permission to use them, and they represent the actual property you are listing.
- The asking price is real. Bait-and-switch pricing (advertising one price, demanding another on contact) is grounds for removal and a permanent ban.
- The property is legally available to rent or sell in Ghana.
5. Verified Lister badge
Listers may submit identity verification — Ghana Card number plus a live selfie — to obtain a Verified Lister badge. The badge indicates that we have matched the submitted documents to a real person. It does not constitute a guarantee of any other fact, including ownership of any specific property. We may revoke verification at any time if we have reason to believe it was obtained fraudulently.
6. Things you may not do
You agree not to:
- Post listings for property you do not own or are not authorised to list.
- Post fake, misleading, or duplicate listings, or use stolen photos.
- Impersonate any other person, agency, or organisation.
- Harass, threaten, defraud, or otherwise harm other users on or off Plate.
- Collect or scrape personal information about other users for any purpose, including bulk-messaging or lead-reselling.
- Attempt to circumvent any access controls, rate limits, or security measures.
- Use Plate to solicit users for services unrelated to a genuine property transaction (including loan offers, "agency representation", or other middleman services).
- Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit any content from Plate without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice, and may remove offending content at any time.
7. Inquiries, viewings, and direct contact
When you inquire on a listing or request a viewing, your name and phone number are shared with the lister. When a buyer inquires on your listing, you receive their name and phone number. We provide these introductions so the two parties can speak directly. Plate is not responsible for what is said, agreed, or done off-platform.
8. Payments and paid features
Listing on Plate is free. We may offer paid features (such as paid boosting of a listing for additional visibility). When paid features are enabled, payments are processed by Paystack and other approved providers. By using a paid feature, you authorise the relevant provider to charge the payment method you select for the disclosed amount.
Boost fees are non-refundable once a boost has begun running, unless the failure to deliver the boost is our fault. Contact hello@ghplate.com within 7 days of the boost start date to request a review.
9. Communications from us
By creating an account, you agree to receive service-related communications from us — including one-time verification codes via SMS or WhatsApp, account notices, and responses to inquiries you send. We do not send marketing messages without your separate consent.
10. Your content
You retain ownership of the listings, photos, and messages you post on Plate. By posting them, you grant Plate a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, distribute, and adapt that content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting Plate. Removing content from your account terminates that licence going forward (we may keep backup copies for a reasonable period and may retain content needed for legal or fraud-prevention reasons).
11. Our content and brand
Everything that isn't your content — the Plate name, logo, app, website design, code, and other materials — belongs to us. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute it without permission.
12. Disclaimers
Plate is provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best to keep it running well, but we don't promise that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific listing is accurate, legally valid, or available. We don't promise that any user — verified or not — is who they say they are or will behave honestly. Use reasonable judgment, especially when arranging payments or signing agreements off-platform.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Ghanaian law, Plate is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Plate. Our total cumulative liability for any claim relating to Plate is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) GH₵500.
14. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Plate, its officers, employees, and agents harmless from any claim, demand, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Plate or your violation of these Terms.
15. Termination
You may stop using Plate at any time and may delete your account from Profile in the app or by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, harm other users, or expose us to legal liability. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (e.g. disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, governing law) will survive.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ghana. Any dispute arising out of or relating to Plate or these Terms will be resolved by the courts of Ghana, and you agree to submit to their jurisdiction.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the current version. Your continued use of Plate after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
